The 2009/10 season proved to be one of our best seasons improving on where we left of last season both on and off the pitch. The squad continues to grow now totalling 28, with the coaches focusing on developing skilful rugby players in an enjoyable environment, rather than results which will come in time as this season proved.

From the squad we have 13 players who represent NE Wales, and 4 who are in the North Wales elite squad. Training is on Saturdays between 10.00-12.00, which focuses on development of individual, unit and team skills in a safe, enjoyable environment in daylight and on grass weather permitting, rather than under floodlights in the mud in the cold winter nights!

We are seeking and would welcome any new players to the squad whether or not you have played rugby before. Our stated aim of arranging two fixtures for every Sunday enables everyone to play a full match against clubs / teams of a similar standard, thereby ensuring that matches whilst competitive are enjoyable from which the players continue to develop.

The 2009/10 season consisted of 12 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses two of which were to a strong combined Llanidloes/Newtown team who continue to set the benchmark in North Wales and against which we measure ourselves.

Highlights of our season were close encounters against Llanidloes/Newtown, a hard fought victory during a close encounter against a very competitive Llandudno and a wonderfully exciting come back from 0-15 down in the Caldy Tournament against Caldy to win 19-15, however only to lose in the Final to a well drilled Chester side. Revenge was ours however in the Mold Anglo Welsh Tournament, having beaten very strong Wolverhampton and Vale of Lune sides we met Chester in a thrilling final, where we scored with the last play of the match to win 10-5.

There was of course the Harrogate Tournament, but what goes on tour stays on tour!

Parental support is encouraged and we have a great band of parents who have followed their kids home and away and actually found that it is not a Taxi service, but a great way of spending a Sunday morning, becoming friends with other parents in the process.

Here is to the 2010-2011 season. If you fancy taking up ruby or starting again, please get in contact. We start fitness and fun training last two weeks of July.
